Workshop: Music Theory and Memory – September 26

Learning music theory fundamentals can seem analogous to learning multiplication tables — you just repeat them until you know them. However, best practices in mathematics education have moved away from this drill-and-practice method, and so has music theory pedagogy. This presentation discusses recent research in the cognition of teaching and learning and how it can inform how we teach music theory fundamentals.
