The Vancouver Branch is an affiliate of the BC Registered Music Teachers' Association (BCRMTA). Membership in the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Association (CFMTA) is automatically granted once an application is accepted.

- the teacher must be 18 years of age
- the teacher must hold a music teacher's certificate, or a music teacher’s diploma from any school of music recognized by the BC Provincial Council, or a university level music degree with a major in the instrument or subject of instruction stated in the application
- the teacher must have a record of four years’ of instruction in subjects recognized by the BC Provincial Board of Examiners
RMT members in good standing from other provinces in Canada need only apply for a transfer into the Vancouver Branch through the provincial branch. Contact the Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.

CHANGES TO THE VANCOUVER/BURNABY TEACHING AREAS
In 2019, new applicants and renewing members will be asked to choose the area under which they wished to be noted for the Branch page on the Provincial website. The cities of Vancouver and Burnaby are divided into sectors; please refer to the map below for specific boundaries.
