There are a few administrative changes from Marsh Canada (our liability insurance underwriter) for this year:
- There will be no personal names listed on the insurance certificate issued
- Marsh Insurance now allows for completely retired teachers to be current BCRMTA members without paying the insurance fee.
- Teachers who already pay commercial liability MAY be able to get an exemption from paying our liability insurance fee.

The website is now set up for 2024-2025 fiscal year renewals. Any renewals received before January 1, 2024
will be held until that date and then processed accordingly. Please remind your members to renew early! (It's
a good New Year's Resolution!)
There are a few administrative changes from Marsh Canada (our liability insurance underwriter) for this year:
1. There will be no personal names listed on the insurance certificate issued. This does not imply ANY
changes to the terms of the insurance, it is simply a clerical change. If any teachers require their
name listed for any reason (house insurance purposes etc) they may request this from Marsh
Insurance at the following email address: winnipegcertificates@marsh.com, with their name and full
address to be listed on the certificate.
2. Marsh Insurance now allows for completely retired teachers to be current BCRMTA members without
paying the insurance fee. A completely retired teacher is one who is not teaching AT ALL - not even a
single student. These teachers would pay the CF fee, the BC fee and the branch fee. These teachers
need to contact me as registrar before February 01 so I can send them a form to sign affirming that
they are not teaching. I will then send them a coupon code for removing the insurance fee.
Branches need to understand that 'retired' teachers who do not have liability insurance would
not be covered in the event that they entered students into a branch festival, recital or other
event. This could complicate or compromise the branch's coverage if allowed.
3. Teachers who already pay commercial liability MAY be able to get an exemption from paying our
liability insurance fee.
Teachers who wish to take advantage of this MUST send their commercial liability policies to
Bob Shaver at Bob.shaver@marsh.com before February 1, 2024 for their approval. I must
receive approval from Marsh Insurance before I can send the teacher a coupon code for
removing the insurance fee.
Please let your members know that BCRMTA will not extend the deadline for renewal for members who are
taking advantage of retired/no insurance or commercial liability/no insurance. These exemptions must be
taken care of well before the deadline of February 15.
