The Branch will be holding a Piano Audition via video to select our representative to the BC Piano Competition in September 2020. If you have an interested student, please read through the BCRMTA Rules and Regulations at bcrmta-piano-competition-rules (note the deadline for Provincial submissions has changed to May 31).
Students must:
- be studying with a Vancouver/Burnaby Branch member
- be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- be 24 years old or younger as of January 1st, 2021
Branch Level Requirements:
- provide a 15-25 minute performance submitted as a video link
- repertoire must include at least two contrasting styles, including a Classical selection and a Canadian work
- there can be NO cuts or edits in the performance
- online submissions must be made via THIS LINK by midnight of Tuesday, May 19, 2020
Provincial Level Requirements:
- the winner of the Branch competition must be able to perform at the BC Piano Competition in September 2020
- they must provide a repertoire list for final round by May 29, 2020 which must include three contrasting selections (one repeat from the first round is permitted)
- if the student is the first place winner of the BC Piano Competition, they must be prepared to perform in the Young Artist Tour and compete at the National Piano Competition in Edmonton, July 2021.
