2019/2020 Branch Schedule

  • Monday September 23 “Self Publishing 101: An introduction on the how’s and where’s of getting your work published”.  Explore ideas on how to produce projects of any size. The panel will present ideas and options from their own experiences and answer questions. Panel will include composer Irene Voros, instructor Barbara Siemens, and one other individual TBA.There will also be a book exchange, bring your unused or unwanted scores to the event and maybe take home some treasures you didn’t expect. Left overs will be donated to a local music school in need.10:30am to 12:00pm at Tom Lee Downtown.

 

  • Alexander Technique Introductory Lessons. Tuesdays 10:00 to 11:30am Oct 1, 8, 15, 22. More information will be sent for the sign up but the deadline is September 20, the draw for 6 names will be held at the meeting on September 23. https://bcrmta.org/alexander-technique-lessons/

 

  • Sunday October 6 “Come Discover the BCRMTA” This event is for non-RMT teachers, it will introduce the benefits of membership and answer questions. If you know any university students, private teachers etc who are not RMT’s, please forward the flyer when its sent out later this month. Door prizes and refreshments will be provided. 1:00-2:30pm at Long and McQuade in Vancouver.

 

  • Monday October 21 “Develomental Neuroscience in Music” with Andrea Unrau. Back by popular demand! Details will be announced soon along with an email for sign up in the coming weeks. 10:00am to 12:00pm at Long & McQuade in Vancouver.

 

  • CMW Festival November 16-17, Canadian Music Centre in Vancouver on Davie Street with Sandra Friesen adjudicating. Registration will be open from September 15 to October 15 via the new online system. Visit  https://festivals-recitals.bcrmta.org/node/12 for details.

 

  • Winter Recital - December 1 or 8 (to be confirmed late September) 4:00-7:00pm at the Unitarian Centre in Vancouver (49th and Oak). Deadline November . NOTE 1: Registration for all recitals will be available through the new online system. Visit https://festivals-recitals.bcrmta.org/ for details. NOTE 2: This year, we are experimenting with paperless recitals, programs will not be distributed at the event. Instead, the programs will be emailed to teachers, who may print copies or simply forward the information to their students/parents. At the recital, performers will sit in numbered seats and the MC will be announce their name, as well as the title and composer of their piece.

  • Monday January 20 AGM Its election time! Come support your executive, find out what the new year has in store, voice your opinions and provide the board with direction. Your presence is needed to give us the quorum necessary to vote on important topics. A mini-workshop in the second half of the meeting is currently being arranged.10:00am to 12:00pm at Long & McQuade in Vancouver.

 

  • Monday February 24 Massage Therapist Rachel Shiu on Detecting and Preventing Issues that Effect Musical Peformance. 10:00am to 12:00pm at Showcase Pianos in Vancouver.
